A bit more time so a bit more about this young man. It seems he grew up in a somewhat comfortable life, his mother was a teacher, his father a businessman who did business in some foreign countries so his young life did include international travel. They divorced and he said he felt he lived in two worlds, a very open liberal life in Austin, TX with his mother and a very conservative life with his father. He went to college and with a group of his friends decided it wasn't right for mostly disadvantaged youth to serve in the military so they would do their duty and joined the marines. That was at a relatively calm time in our world. In a short time we were in Afghanistan and in Iraq and he was thrown in the middle of the war, two tours of duty in Iraq, and one in Afghanistan. Tragic for him, his friends and many around him. He was changed and said that he decided he would live his life from that point on making the world a better place rather than destroying it. He ended up with injuries, which he didn't go into, other than his dealing with PTSD and said he is now on disability. He returned to school to get his masters degree in international something, wish I remembered the details.
